Getting away from the daily routine isn’t enough to get rid of the stress that’s always waiting to pounce on the unwary. Escaping from the daily routine is what needed; Putting significant geographical distance between your home and yourself is what’s really needed. By leaving your normal, mundane life behind for just a while you can experience the world around you instead of just watching from showbox on your android screens or televisions. Here are ten reasons why you should get away and experience life.

1) You get to leave the stress of your everyday life behind for awhile

Let’s face facts, most people experience at least some stress in their lives, and after a while. we’re all ready to get away for a while. I find that a nice walk on the beach can take away the stress of my everyday life from the first step to the last.

2) You can see new, exciting locations

Even if you don’t leave your country there are new sights to see and new experiences to enjoy. I’ve been from one side of USA to the next and despite the similarities between different locations, each place has its own unique feel. New locations can broaden your horizon and remind you that there is an entire world outside of what you know.

3) Relaxation is the key to enjoying your vacation

No matter how you relax, a vacation is your time to do what you want. The pace you set is your own and there is no pressure to do anything you don’t want to do. My own experience in vacationing involves everything from kicking back with a frosty drink to engaging in whatever high impact activity that is available.

4) Vacations can kindle or rekindle a relationship

The rut you find yourself in can and usually, does extend to the relationship with your significant other. Taking a nice vacation with each other can reignite that spark in your relationship that will keep you young and remind you why you got together in the first place. If you don’t have special someone, this might be a great chance for you to meet somebody and flirt with a guy. Who knows this might lead you to the person you are destined to be with!

5) Alarm clocks are a nuisance, not a necessity

I did say that vacations are on your time, didn’t I? Leave the clocks at home and sleep in. Getting out of your rut means you stop living by the clock, if only for a little while. Personally, I’m an early riser due to long years of rising early for work, but on vacation. it’s easy to just lay back and remember that my day isn’t dictated by how fast or slow I go.

6) Traveling to different countries offers a new perspective on how other people live

Experiencing new cultures and witnessing how other societies live is enlightening. Such an experience can remind you that your own existence is just one among many representations of humanity. For instance, my first trip to London left me absolutely speechless. The knowledge of other cultures gained from a vacation is an invaluable experience.

7) There are many different ways to see new places at a reduced cost

It’s true that going anywhere costs money. Sometimes the cost of a trip can be more of an aggravation than the rut you’re trying to get away from. Nowadays, there are a vast number of promotions that are designed to give people better deals. Remember, many locations depend heavily on tourism, so they will make the effort to get you there. You just need to look. I’m always looking at hotel rates, deals on airfare, and any other deal that can get my family away from home for a little while.

8) The cuisine from different parts of the world is always interesting

Your regular eating habits can be a part of your continual rut too. When you’re on vacation you don’t want the same old things you eat at home. On vacation, the best attitude to adopt is “when in Rome“. It doesn’t matter if you try a little or a lot, your taste buds will thank you for the change of pace. My experience in The Tower near Edinburgh castle in Scotland was a culinary delight I won’t soon forget.

9) All work and no play makes for a long and miserable day

Some of us like our jobs and some don’t. But regardless of this, it’s always necessary to unplug and unwind. If all you do is work then you’re allowing one of the life’s absolute necessities to pass you by. At some point in life, everyone needs to get away from their life and experience the world. I know for certain that after each assignment I need at least a short vacation away from the constant grind.

10) You deserve a vacation

You read that right. Anyone who works the long, hard hours trying to support themselves or others is constantly racking up personal vacation time that eventually needs to be taken. You work hard for your money, busting your back for others, making sure they’re taken care of, and it’s time to cash in on that fact. I like to treat myself to a short one or two-day vacation every so often just because I feel it’s necessary. Featured photo credit: Tom Spencer via www1.nh1.com
